Overcoming the rock wall was only the beginning of their troubles. They were back on their way now, but also on a ledge they had never used before. The ledge itself was no problem. After all, if a three meter long Trelka Ice Witch considered it safe, Draconians that were at best two meters tall, wouldn’t have much trouble navigating it either. The problem was that it was leading them higher up the mountains, instead of down into the next valley, and soon became much less hospitable than it had originally been.
- You surely impressed my scouts, lady Tenja captain finally caught up with the Trelka Ice Witch.
- That is obvious. With what exactly, though?
- Your climbing. I don't think Sharana expected you to move so fast.
- Oh, your kind didn't expect the mighty Trelkas to be amazing climbers? Preposterous. I've conquered my first peak before I received my first Hieyoksmainers. When my father was still alive we'd gather our neighbours and spend months in the mounatins she pouted.
- I... it was just a compliment. Draconians know Trelkas only from stories, you have to excuse us.
- It sure sounded more like you mistook me for some clumsy Skamal.
- I beg for your forgiveness, then Jago responded, intending to finish the discussion before his patience runs out.
- Oh, of course. Trelkas are very forgiving.
- Just another thing Trelkas are best at he threw with tongue in cheek.
- See? And you were saying you don't know much about my people. You're learning fast Tenja nodded.
He stared at her, not entirely sure what to make out of her enigmatic smile. Was she pulling his leg all the time?
- Thank you?
- Ha!
She left him staring helplessly at her back until Arbrand nudged his captain to keep moving.
