Description

Wolves and Sillies, fancy hats as day-one DLC!
Let me tell you how it works, you got to this pic, because maybe, just maybe, it caught your eye while browsing dA or, which is much more possible, it spammed your message box - thank you for coming here!
Now, a treat for you, like a cookie, or candy, but virtual and, let's be realists, crappier.
Anyway, be the first person to comment under this very pic of wraufla, my original specie of wolf-like creatures, and win one for you - yes, for FREE!
Where's the hook? There are two: this is not a request, you ask me for your own wraufla (note: your wraufla, not wraufla-you), I'll deliver BASING on your hints and ADJUSTING it to my view on them. Second one is simpler, you have one wraufla, you're not getting another one. At least not during Wolves and Sillies action.

Still not believing? This one belongs to goeliath who won it under the previous link of wraufla chain: Reresa (Wolves and Sillies)

I can't believe it took me so long to make it, although I'm quite happy with the effect. Haven't got lots of time to draw anything lately, but going for wraufla always feels good and refreshing, so I hope I can actually catch up with... well, everything now.
goeliath requested a wraufla female, slightly taller and skinnier than your average eversnowing mountains' monster. She was supposed to be white, with some greyish fur on her tailwagging dock and I swear she is! She may be a bit too... distant from reality to show you without preying on you, so watch out! He also gave out lots of details about equipment and addons, I hope I've got everything right.
Well then, I think I'll keep it short this time and jump right to the story!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oru wasn't born mongrel and maybe that was the reason why she became one. She never felt like she belonged to her clan. Seemingly never-ending cycle of hunting, mating and sleeping never appealed to her, the safe, fat life of female in Communal Cave always got on her nerves and she couldn't wait till her youth ends and she'll be given under protection of mongrel that will teach her and rest of useless younglings she had bad luck to grow among. She grew fast, faster than others, soon she was taller even than adults, although barely. She was strong and fast, no one could keep up with her on mocked up hunts with which they killed time, awaiting the Moon of First Hunt.

When the time came, she boldly approached the mongrel, boasting about own skills...

...oh, how foolish she was. Many moons have passed, she saw many snowstorms, sometimes she even thought that she saw way too many of them, and yet that was most horrifying, exhausting and painful experience of her life. She fully understood mongrel now, large, old male only wanted to show her how bad it is to underestimate their own home. How dangerous the mountain peaks and insecure passes were, but back then she could only think about how hungry, beaten and humiliated she was. But then First Hunt came and she once again showed that she was the best, bringing back from it the Ice Scratcher, large and furry, with claws long enough to cut open any foolish hunter. They say that mongrels bring its fur to Three Good Mothers as sign that they're coping well outside the Communal Cave, but who knows the weird ways of them?

Oru tried hard to learn them. She left the Communal Cave quickly, uninterested in many strong hunters that were bringing her best furs and meat. She wanted to become tracker, but didn't want to share the fate of wolves that took usual road to this goal, joining the hunters' packs and lured into mundane duties by visibly easier work and less responsibility then their pathfinder. She went to learn from mongrels, living in their caves and sharing their meals. She patched together the knowledge she gathered and returned to the Communal Cave after many snowstorms. Good Mothers were happy to have her back and the Trackers agreed to test her abilities. She spent long nights under eyes of Finders seeking for shelters, she was leaving with experienced packs into the snowstorms and led the hunts. Eventually she successfully tracked the Stone Horn for pack of hunters and it was agreed that she can become a Tracker to the Cave...

...but by then it wasn't enough for Oru. Again, she refused gifts from males and haven't even stayed in Communal Cave, leaving for shelter she made for herself among mongrels. She never felt strong enough to live there alone, but she made enough friends of whom she was sure there was no danger awaiting her. She led the hunters and even occasionally joined packs that was passing by, but that wasn't enough.

Because in the cave, there was whole world awaiting her.
Whole world in the words of young mongrel female, that traveled far away.
Oru was sure she wasn't lying.
And Oru was sure she'll travel with her next time.
Because Oru said so.

And no one discussed with what Oru decided.

I was beginning to get worried about you, so much so that I'm planning another drawing!
